A section of animal rights activists today allegedly tried to breach security arrangements at the Tamil Nadu House here in a bid to meet Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami to put forth the issue of "illegal" slaughter houses functioning in Trichy.
Palaniswami was in the national capital to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"Our volunteers were waiting since morning to meet the chief minister to raise the issue of missing cattles and also about illegal slaughter houses functioning in Trichy," Poonam Kumar, an activist of Dhyan foundation, said.

Officials in the TN House claimed that the activists were stopped when they tried to breach security as they made an attempt to meet the chief minister who was on the first floor.
An official source in the TN House said the activists who met the Resident Commissioner yesterday were asked to wait for a few days while the commissioner took the issue to officials in the state.
The chief minister later met the activists and assured to find a solution to the issue.
