Actor George Baker, Prof Richard Hay nominated to Lok Sabha

Assamese actor George Baker, who had unsuccessfully contested the 2014 Lok Sabha polls as a BJP candidate from West Bengal, and Richard Hay, a professor of economics from Kerala, were today nominated as members of the Anglo-Indian Community to the Lok Sabha.

The President has nominated Baker and Hay as members of the Anglo-Indian Community to the Lok Sabha, a Home Ministry statement said.

Baker, who has acted in several Assamese and Bengali movies since 1970s, had joined BJP in 2014 and unsuccessfully contested on a party ticket from Howrah in West Bengal.

Baker's most notable film was 'Chameli Memsaab' (Assamese and Bengali) which won national film award in 1975.
 

Hay teaches economics in various academic institutes in India as well as abroad.
