Noted Marathi and Hindi theatre actor Suhas Joshi was felicitated in Thane for being bestowed the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi award for 2018.
The General Council of the Sangeet Natak Akademi, the National Academy of Music, Dance and Drama, New Delhi at its meeting held on 26 June this year announced Joshi's name for the Akademi Puraskar in the field of theatre.
At the felicitation function organised on Friday by NGO 'We Need You' and the Thane Arts Guild, Joshi (72) was presented with a saree and a purse.
She regaled the gathering with incidents from her days in the National School of Drama, where her peers included acting doyens like Naseeruddin Shah and late Om Puri.
She said she was moulded as an actor at the NSD by noted theatre director Ebrahim Alkazi.
Joshi said she used to perform 148 shows in four months, and expressed displeasure that the newer lot of actors were not showing the same commitment.
Among those who attended the function were director- actor Chandrakant Kulkarni, voice actor Uday Sabnis and social worker Sanjeev Sane.
