Actors Nana Patekar, Anaspure extend aid to farmers' families

Actors Nana Patekar and Makarand Anaspure today came forward to provide financial assistance of Rs 15,000 each to the families of 62 farmers from Vidarbha region who have committed suicide.

The event organised by an NGO, Jan Manch, was held in the city today during which the two actors handed over cheques to the said families.

"Moved by the plight of the debt-ridden and distressed farmers taking extreme steps, Patekar and Anaspure decided to raise funds and distribute them among the needy families," said the president of Jan Manch, Anil Killor.

The actor duo -- who helped the families of deceased farmers in Beed district in a similar manner -- presented cheques to the affected families, said the president of Vidarbha Jan Andolan Samiti, Kishore Tiwari.
 

While Nana Patekar is known for his memorable roles in a number of Bollywood movies, Anaspure is a popular actor in the Marathi film industry.
