After creating waves in festival circuits abroad, 'III Smoking Barrels'- a multilingual film exploring the trials and tribulations of Northeast people - is set to win hearts of audiences across the country.

Speaking at the official trailer launch of the film here, critically acclaimed actor Subrat Dutt said one of the striking features of 'III Smoking Barrels' is that everyone gets to speak their own language.

"The multi-starrer film has actors from Manipur, Nagaland and Assam speaking their native languages. There are eight songs in different languages, including Bengali and Hindi, some of which have been rendered by Papon," Dutt told PTI yesterday.

Talking about his role in the film, the actor said he tried his best to do justice to his character.

"I essay the role of a poacher, his name is Moktar. The film touches upon the complexities of the northeast. I tried to deliver the shots based on my own idea about how a person should react in certain situations," the 'Rakta Charitra' actor added.

Actor Indraneil Sengupta, who has a pivotal role in 'III Smoking Barrels', told PTI that director Sanjib Dey sought to address issues of gun use, armed conflict and poaching in three intertwined tales.

"It is a northeast (centric) film talking about vital issues. Honestly speaking, even I wasn't very aware of many of these problems that we talked about in this movie," he said.

Stating that it was a film which gives out an emotional message, Sengupta said not many people in the country know about the problems faced by people in the northeast region.

"I have seen that many people in Mumbai don't know much about that part of the country. This film aims to bridge the gap," he said,

Director Sanjib Dey said the film has been extensively shot in Assam and its neighbouring states.

"It is a multilingual film in the real sense of the term as the actors have spoken in six languages - Assamese, Bengali, Hindi, Nagamese, Manipuri and English. The film tells the stories common people, their sufferings and turn around," he added.

'III Smoking Barrels' has already won awards and accolades at 12th Mexico International Film Festival, 2018, 38th Durban International Festival and 7th Prag Cine Awards.

The film is set to hit theatres on September 21.
