Actress, activist, part of Swaraj India candidates for MCD

An actress, a 21-year-old pass out from Daulat Ram college and a social activist figured in Swaraj India's second list of 30 candidates announced today for the MCD elections.

Among the prominent candidates, Shubha Sharma is contesting from Mayur Vihar Phase II ward in East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC). Sharma was a part of 2013 Hollywood movie 'Desires of the Heart' and has also acted in several serials and plays.

Kajal Sharma (21), a pass out from Daulat Ram College, is also in the fray from Rani Bagh ward of North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC). Part of the anti-corruption movement led by Anna Hazare, she graduated with B Com (Hons) last year.
 

Dillip Bhat, a social activist and a part of the 'Save Kathaputli Colony' campaign, is contesting from Rajinder Nagar in NDMC.

Swaraj India which is contesting its maiden polls has until now announced candidates for 55 wards.

"Our average age of candidates is 39 years. Preference has been given to youth and women. Until now, we have 19 candidates who are below 35 years of age. Of the total 55 seats declared, our party has given seats to 23 women," Swaraj India spokesperson Anupam said.

On February 22, the party had released first list of 25 candidates.
