Amid the ongoing sealing drive in Delhi, BJP leader Meenakshi Lekhi today alleged that "ad hoc" planning of the city was responsible for the problems being faced by traders, even as she sought to put the blame for it on the AAP dispensation and its predecessor government.
The municipal corporations in Delhi have undertaken the sealing drive initiated by a Supreme Court-appointed monitoring committee, from December last year.
The actions are being taken for violation of civic norms or Master Plan of Delhi 2021, including misuse or encroachment of property, or use of a residential property or unit for commercial purposes.
"The monitoring committee is taking action based on FAR (floor area ratio) violations in commercial areas. But it is not looking into land use (violations)," Lekhi an MP from New Delhi, alleged at a press conference held at the newly-opened party headquarters here.
East Delhi MP Maheish Girri, Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta, Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari were also present at the press meet.
"The problems have arisen due to ad hoc policies over the decades. From the 90s these urban planning issues have been cropping up. And, today also these problems persist. So, the present (Delhi) government and the previous one are responsible for it," Lekhi alleged.

She also alleged that the Delhi government has failed to regulate the unauthorised colonies and the previous government "allowed illegal encroachments" in the city.
"We are thankful to the central government for bringing amendment to the Delhi Special Provisions Act allowing relief to people," Lekhi said.
Except for lip service, he (Arvind Kejriwal) has done nothing on the sealing issue, Gupta alleged. The BJP leaders claimed that the AAP government has failed to notify 351 roads.
The AAP, meanwhile has been alleging that the BJP was fooling people even when the civic bodies and the DDA are under it.
