'The Wedding Singer' star Adam Sandler reportedly paid a store employee USD 500 to appear as an extra in his new comedy film after realising that he was short of a man.

The 47-year-old actor was shooting 'The Cobbler' with director Tom McCarthy on the streets of Manhattan when he decided to give Rahman Ejaj his 15 minutes of fame after realising that he needed someone for extra, reported new York Daily News.

"Adam went and asked an employee at a local fashion store if he would mind being part of a scene," a source said.

Ejaj was so happy to be of service, he claimed he would work for free, but Sandler reportedly gave him USD 500 for his time.
