ADC Chandel chairman sent to 10-days police custody

The arrested chairman of Autonomous District Council (ADC) Chandel has been remanded to 10-days police custody by a court here, police said today.

The police late on Tuesday night had seized huge quantity of heroin and party drugs worth around Rs 40 crore from the official residence of the chairman of ADC Chandel, Lunkhosei Zou and arrested eight persons including Zou.

Hours after the arrest of Zou, BJP Manipur president K Bhabananda Singh expelled Zou from the party with immediate effect for "anti-party activities".

Zou and six other arrested persons was produced before the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) court in Imphal yesterday which remanded them to 10-days police custody, W Basu Singh, Superintendent of Police (SP), Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB) told PTI.

 

One of the arrested person was a minor, so he was not produced before the court. The minor was sent to a juvenile home, the SP added.
