Singer Adele has hit out at US presidential nominee Donald Trump, saying she felt "embarrassed" for America after watching him speak in a presidential debate.

The "Rolling In The Deep" hitmaker said she "feels sorry" for the country, reported Daily Mirror.

Speaking to the crowd at her concert in Washington DC, she said, "I feel sorry for you. Did anybody watch the debate last night? Oh my God.

"I watched the debate, and you should know who I like and who I do not like. I'm embarrassed for you."

Adele has criticised Trump in the past when he used her music for a presidential campaign without her permission.

The 28-year-old singer was inundated with messages on social media asking if she backed the potential leader, something which she denied.
