Stressing the need for adequate representation of downtrodden, Other Backward Classes and women in elevation to High Court judges, Justice S Tamilvanan today urged the Chief Justice and judges of Collegiums to consider social justice while doing so.

"My conscience is only the master justice. I have not decided any matter against my conscience," he said while making the above remarks.

Justice Tamilvanan, who retired today, had been elevated as a High Court judge on December 10, 2005.

With his retirement, the strength of High Court judges has come down to 36 in a sanctioned strength of 60.
