In an effort to establish mass contact with the people and to make them acquaint with various policies of the UPA-government, Punjab Youth Congress today started a 'Adhikar yatra' from here today.

The idea behind the yatra is to highlight the work done by the UPA government to uplift and empower people, Punjab Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa said after flagging off the Yatra along with Punjab Youth Congress (PYC) chief Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary.

Bajwa appreciated the initiative taken by PYC and said it will expose the false and confusing environment created by the state government, its failures on all fronts and anti-people policies.

Chaudhary appealed to the youth to come forward and take a pledge to choose a government which would provide a conducive climate for intellectual growth.

The yatra will cover around 1,000 kms across Punjab and will conclude at Jalandhar on October 31 where Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi will address a rally.
