WBPCC President Adhir Chowdhury today met the woman whose three sons were killed at Labhpur in Birbhum district four years ago and assured her justice in the case in which the name of a Trinamool Congress MLA had cropped up.
Handing over Rs 20,000 to Zarina Bibi, Chowdhury said "We believe that our judicial system is strong enough to punish an MLA if he commits any crime."
The name of Trinamool Congress MLA Manirul Islam had cropped up in the murder, but his name was not in the charge sheet.

Zarina Bibi had on June 30 filed a petition in the Calcutta High Court seeking a CBI inquiry into the killing of her sons claiming lack of confidence in the police.
She had alleged in the petition that she was forced to state that Islam, the Labhpur TMC MLA was not involved in the case during her statement under Section 164 of CrPC though he was named as an accused in the FIR, her counsel Subrata Mukhopadhyay had said.
"We shall come again and take all required steps to get justice. We shall take them to the President of India if required," Chowdhury added.
