West Bengal state Congress president Adhir Chowdhury was today stopped by the police from visiting riot-hit Baduria in North 24-Parganas district.
Chowdhury and party leaders were stopped at Barasat and were told that political parties were not allowed to visit the area as it might create a law and order problem
Chowdhury said, "Last week a congress delegation was stopped citing the same reason. I don't understand how a visit by a political party will disturb the peace of the area."
Life returned to normal in riot-hit Baduria town and adjacent areas of North 24-Parganas district, a week after violence as shops, markets and business centres reopened today.
