"Kalam was not as concerned as was Mamata. Now with Kalam out of the race for presidential election, we would like to see what stand she takes," Chaudhury, a Congress MP, told a street corner meeting here.
Criticising the Trinamool Congress chief's 'one-point programme' of opposing Mukherjee as the presidential candidate, Chaudhury said that "after her defeat in her mission with Mulayam Singh Yadav refusing to support her viewpoints, she has become desperate."
Ridiculing Banerjee's foray in Facebook, the Congress leader said "she has preferred to avoid public statements and sought refuge in social networking after her efforts miserably failed on the Presidential election issue.
"Didi should realise that Congress enjoys huge strength in Parliament and mend her ways," he said.
Stating that his party has noted that some Trinamool Congress ministers were asking it to leave the coalition government in West Bengal, he warned they should not browbeat Congress.
He said Congress had accepted leadership of Mamata Banerjee on instruction of party president Sonia Gandhi in the fight against CPI(M) that culminated in the sweeping victory in last assembly elections.
"But the honeymoon is over in the last one year. There is a queston mark now on the functioning of the state government and the people are getting frustrated," he said.
