Aditi Ashok fired a superb hole-in-one on the Par-3 11th hole in a card of two-under 68 on the opening day of the Usha Eastern India Ladies & Junior Girls' Amateur Golf Championship here today.

Bengaluru's Aditi, all of 16 years and seven months, was head and shoulders above the rest of the competition and, in the absence of top-seed Gurbani Singh, was extremely good for the Ladies section, as well as for the Category A girls.

However, Aditi's start was not great, as she dropped shots on the par-4 fourth and fifth holes, but she recovered brilliantly to notch up birdies on the eighth and ninth holes to make the turn at a par score of 34.

Aditi bit the purple patch on the back nine, finding the hole with her first shot on the 153-yard 11th. She went on to add another birdie on the 14th, but dropped a shot on the 15th before sealing her day off with a card of 68.

Aditi was followed by Afshan Fatima in the Ladies section, with a round of four-over 74, while Vidushi Sinha and Amandeep Drall were tied at third with cards of 75 at the Par-70 Tollygunge Golf Club.

In the Junior Girls' Category A, Aditi was followed by Vidushi, while Nishtha Madan was third with a round of 76. Category B was being led by Arshia Mahant (78), followed by Diksha Dagar (79) and Sifat Sagoo (82).

Vasundhara Thiara had a fine round of two-over 72 in Category C. She was being followed by Tanishka Kumar (76) and Anika Varma (79).
