Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today inaugurated a boating facility in the Ramgarh lake here and laid the foundation stone of a Rs 40-crore water sports complex.

He enjoyed 10 minutes of boating in the lake and also a held meeting with the local BJP leaders.

"It is our effort to attract tourists from across the country and also from abroad with the development of the Ramgarh project," the chief minister said during his address on the occasion.

He added that his government was working on development projects in Poorvanchal (eastern Uttar Pradesh), a region which was ignored for years.

"A high-tech auditorium will be built here. We are also going to develop a place for cultural and spiritual programmes. A zoo will be built near the Ramgarh lake.

"Gorakhpur is the centre of tourism as the place of Bhagwan Buddha's mahaparinirvan is just 60 kms away, his birth place Lumbini is 90 kms away and Sarnath is at a distance of 200 kms. Gorakhpur is the place of Baba Gorakhnathji and the freedom fighters from here had given a new direction to the country's freedom struggle. It will not only attract tourism but also increase the opportunities of employment," Adityanath said.
