Administrative approval for modernisation of canal

Karnataka Cabinet has given Rs 562.30 crore administrative approval for modernisation of Hemavathi canal to ensure adequate distribution of water to neighboring districts.

"Realising the importance of modernisation of canal to ensure adequate water distribution to Hassan, Mandya and Tumkur district, cabinet has given administrative approval for Rs 562.30 crore, this will cover 72.26 km," Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs T B Jayachandra told reporters here.

He said cabinet has approved Rs 8.20 crore for the modernisation of Taraka Right Bank Canal at H D Kote.

On the issue of revamping of Bangalore University he said a cabinet sub committee under the Chairmanship of Higher Education Minister R V Deshpande has been constituted.
 

Cabinet has also approved allocation of 24 acre of land free of cost to Indo-Tibetan Border Police at Jangamkote hobli near Sidlaghatta taluk of Chikkaballapura district.
