Seeking to give a push to digital transactions in keeping with the Central government's initiative, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar today urged hospitals in the city to adopt cashless services as done by about 25 hospitals in his home state Goa.
"About 25 hospitals in Goa have adopted cashless services. I call upon hospitals here to do the same," he said after inaugurating the new advanced treatment block of KMC Hospital here.
Conveying his Christmas and New Year wishes to the people, Parrikar suggested that KMC hospital treat certain percentage of patients at reasonable costs, in keeping with Jesus Christ's call to people to help the poor and needy.

"Hence even though KMC hospitals are engaging in charity, I still request them to treat certain percentage of patients in society at very reasonable costs. It need not be given free of cost, but should be at an affordable price to the poorest of poor," he added.
