A Jharkhand minister today allayed any fear that the Hemant Soren government would stop government advertisements to newspapers for publishing 'negative news'.

"Advertisements will not be stopped," Water Resources Minister Annapurna Devi said while speaking at a seminar "How far and how near are Government, Society and Media", organised by the Information and Public Relations Department here today.

Her assurance came after an editor of a Hindi daily, in his speech on the occasion, alleged that a previous government had stopped advertisements to the newspaper after a negative news was published.

"But news should be checked and re-checked (before publication), because it is the political leaders who face people," the minister added.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Chief Secretary R S Sharma and several others notable personalities were present in the seminar to mark Gandhi Jayanti.
