An Advance Milk Testing Laboratory (AMTL) for research and analysis of synthetic milk products would start functioning here in the next one year.
The AMTL is being set up by the department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences of Rajasthan University (RU) at a cost of Rs eight crore got from the state government, (RU) Vice-Chancellor Prof A K Gahlot told a press conference here.
Drug residues, pesticides and insecticides present in synthetic milk and its products would be tested through a statewide survey and public awareness would be created about the side effects of such dairy products, he said.

There was a need for public-private-partnership in veterinary education and science as many colleges and universities in the country were facing faculty crunch, he said, adding 40 per cent faculty position was lying vacant in RU itself.
Over 100 experts of academic institutions and industries particularly dairy, poultry, pharmaceutical, cattle feed and food processing would take part in the workshop, he said.
