Advani enters World 6-Red snooker quarters

Ace Indian cueist Pankaj Advani showed his mettle as he beat Alex Borg of Malta 4-0 to enter the quarter-finals of the World 6-Red Snooker Championship here today.

Kamal Chawla, the only other Indian in the fray in the men's singles event, however, lost his last-16 encounter to Mohsen Bukshaisha of Qatar 2-4.

In the Team 15-Red snooker, Advani paired with Brijesh Damani to cue past Kacper Filipack and Mateusz Baranowski of Poland 3-2 but fumbled in the quarter-finals against Pakistan's Mohd Asif and Sajjad Hussein 1-4.

Sourav Kothari and Shivam Arora also combined well to beat Laxman Rawat and Faisal Khan but the duo lost in the last-eight encounter to the Iranian pair of Hossein Vafaei Ayouri and Eshan Hyder Ali 0-4.
 

In the ladies draw, the pair of Vidya Pillai and Amee Kamani blanked Jessica Woods and Kathy Parashis 3-0 in the World Team 15-Red Snooker event.

Vidya and Amee also won their singles matches to help Indians down Australia 62-18 in the doubles event.

Bangalore cueist Chitra Magimairaj and Neeta Sanghvi lost in the team event.
