The project foundation was laid by the two leaders at Ujjaini village, about 25 km from where river Kshipra begins.
On the occasion, Advani said he wanted to congratulate Chouhan for taking up a scheme which had been initiated when Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the Prime Minister.
Chouhan said attempts would be made to complete the project in a record time as it would be beneficial for the people of Malwa region, which was under the grip of a water crisis.
