Advani says missed association with Raj assembly in memoir

Senior BJP leader L K Advani today said that he had missed parts of his association with the Rajasthan Assembly while writing his memoir and that he would have been more satisfied if he had incorporated his experience with the state legislature in his autobiography.

"I wrote my autobiography 'My Country, My Life' and narrated my school days in Karachi, my achievements. I wrote about India and the role I played in the democracy but I missed some memories in the autobiography which is about my association with the Rajasthan Assembly," Advani said at a programme here.

"I would have been more satisfied if I had incorporated my role, association and experience with the Rajasthan Assembly in the autobiography," he said.
 

He was speaking as the chief guest at the felicitation of seven senior political leaders on the occasion of 93rd birth anniversary of former vice president Bhairon Singh Shekhawat.

He said that there are many leaders who were elected as MLA multiple times and this is an achievement.

"I have seen several state assemblies. I was elected as MP but Rajasthan Assembly has a unique place in the country and played a significant contribution in strengthening of the democracy. I have been associated with the Rajasthan assembly since beginning. I was with (late) Bhairo Singh ji in my life journey," he said.

"I give several examples of how the members of the assembly have made significant decisions. I became MP and played an important role in strengthening the democracy of the country. I feel immense pleasure," he said.

He also appreciated the achievements of the MLAs who were elected in the state many times and were felicitated here.

The leaders who were felicitated included the Speaker of Rajasthan Assembly Kailash Meghwal, Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria, Tribal Area Development Minister Nand Lal Meena, BJP MLA Sunder Lal, NPP MLA Kirori Lal Meena, former BJP MLA Devi Singh Bhati and former Speaker Sumitra Singh.

Senior Congress MLA Pradhyuman Singh and former Gujarat Governor Kamla Beniwal were also to be felicitated but they skipped.

Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, Deputy Speaker Rao Rajendra Singh, ministers Kali Charan Saraf, Rajpal Singh, Arun Chaturvedi, Prabhu Lal Saini, Khadi Board Chairman Shambhu Dayal Badgujar and other leaders were present in the programme organised by Sundar singh Bhadari Trust-Udaipur.

In the beginning of his political career, Advani was an RSS Pracharak in Rajasthan. He worked in different parts of Rajasthan to continue the activities of the RSS before shifted to Delhi.

Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh said that the MLAs should

write their experiences.

Speaking at the programme, he said that the memories and experiences written by the MLAs would be a learning experiences for the young generation.

He said that the working style of Shekhawat was impressive and he was a mass leader.

His qualities like simplicity and tolerance should be imbibed by the new generation.
