Advisory issued in view of rising water level in Yamuna river

In view of the rising water level in Yamuna river because of untimely rains, Karnal district administration in Haryana has advised people of adjoining areas not to cross the river.

They have also been advised to avoid taking their cattle to the fields on the other side of the river.

The District Development and Panchayat Officer, all Block Development and Panchayat Officers, officers of Irrigation Department and Sarpanches have been asked to make people aware about the rising level of water in the river so as to avoid any possible danger to life and property, an official spokesman said.

He said that the water level of Hathnikund Barrage which was 56,000 cusecs yesterday morning had reached to 87,000 cusecs during the night.
 

The water level again receded to nearly 56,000 cusecs today.

He said that water from Hathnikund Barrage would enter Karnal at night today.

"Therefore, the people of villages adjacent to Yamuna river have been advised not to venture out or take their cattle in fields across the river," he said.
