Chhattisgarh's Advocate General and senior lawyer Jugal Kishore Gilda has withdrawn his candidature for the post of judge in the High Court, citing personal reasons.

"I have withdrawn my candidature for judge of Chhattisgarh High Court due to personal reasons," Gilda told PTI here today.

"In a letter to Supreme Court Chief Justice R M Lodha and Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court Yatindra Singh, I have requested to withdraw my recommendation for the appointment as judge of Chhattisgarh High Court," Gilda said.

Chhattisgarh High Court collegium headed by Chief Justice Yatindra Singh had last month recommended the senior advocate's name for elevation as a High Court judge to the apex court through the state government.
