The Madras High Court Advocates Association would boycott the court tomorrow questioning the latest list of 12 names recommended by the collegium of judges in the High Court for appointment as additional judges.

The association at a special general body meeting here said the list was "faulty as it overlooked" competent and meritorious lawyers from communities which remain unrepresented while some communities have been over-represented.

The association members also conducted a demonstration in the court premises against the recommendation of names in the list.

Later talking to reporters, the Association leaders said if the list was not withdrawn they would intensify their protests.

The Women Lawyers Association and Tamil Nadu Advocates Association have also announced that its members would also abstain from the court proceedings tomorrow.

Earlier, a bench comprising Justice S Rajeswsaran and Justice P N Prakash, which heard a PIL against the acceptability of the list , recused themselves from further hearing and directed the Registry to place the matter before the Chief Justice for appropriate orders.
