AES toll mounts to five

Acute encephalitis syndrome (AES) has claimed five lives in two days in Bihar with a teenager succumbing to it in Muzaffarpur district today, official sources said.

The teenager, admitted with symptoms of the disease at the Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH), died during the day, hospital sources said.

Eleven other children were undergoing treatment at SKMCH and Kejriwal hospital, sources said.

Four children had died yesterday due to the disease at the two hospitals, they added.
