After directing the Oscar-winning film 'Argo', Ben Affleck is in negotiations to star in thriller 'Gone Girl'.

'Gone Girl' is a movie adaptation of Gillian Flynn's best-selling thriller, which will be directed by 'The Fight Club' helmer David Fincher, reported E!Online.

The 40-year-old actor-director was spotted having lunch with Fincher at Caffe Luxxe in Brentwood on Tuesday.

'Gone Girl' revolves around Nick and Amy Dunne, a married couple whose relationship suffers after Nick loses his job.

After losing their income, the couple moves to Missouri from New York but their life takes a turn for worst when Amy disappears and Nick becomes a prime suspect.

Flynn wrote the first draft of the screenplay and is currently rewriting with Fincher, according to Deadline, with shooting slated to begin later this year.

Affleck will reportedly shoot 'Gone Girl' before returning to direct and star in his upcoming Warner Bros film 'Live by Night'.
