Court documents say an Afghan trucking company owner has been charged with bribing soldiers with bundles of cash to get US supply contracts.

A criminal complaint filed December 23 in federal court in North Carolina charges Hikmatullah Shadman with conspiracy and bribery related to payments made to two soldiers in 2009.

The Department of Justice had previously frozen more than USD 63 million in bank accounts controlled by Shadman, according to a 2013 government news release.

Investigators say Shadman bribed two US soldiers who later pleaded guilty.

An American attorney who previously represented Shadman didn't immediately return a message seeking comment today. His whereabouts were not immediately clear.
