The Special Task Force (STF) of Haryana Police today arrested an African national, along with another person, for allegedly selling heroin to students of the Maharshi Dayanad University in Rohtak, officials said.
Acting on a tip-off, the duo were intercepted while they were on their way to the university, a spokesperson said, adding that 53.50 gram of heroin and 130 gram of charas were seized from them.
"The arrested have been identified as Firmeen, a native of west Africa, and Anshu, resident of Jhang colony, Rohtak. Both were arrested by STF sleuths near Tau Dhaba, Devi Lal Park, Rohtak," he said in a release.
"During interrogation, the accused revealed that they used to sell the drug to students," the spokesperson added.
A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was registered against them and an investigation underway, he said.
Meanwhile, Director General of Police B S Sandhu called on people to come forward and help stop the menace of drugs in the state.
"Citizens should come forward and share with the police information related to drug peddlers," he added.
