Punjab's Principal Secretary (Home) DS Bains told reporters yesterday that the ailing student will be sent to his country in the first week of December.
Along with travelling expenses, medical costs, ventilator and other required instruments worth Rs 11 lakh will also be provided to him for his treatment, he said.
"A group of doctors from Burundi will also be trained here or a group of Indian doctors will be sent to Burundi with them for his proper treatment," Bains said.
The victim's father, Nector Ntibateganya had earlier appealed to the state government to help fly Yannick back to Burundi and pay for all his medical expenses.
Meanwhile, Lovely University too has offered monetary assistance of Rs six lakh to Yannick as he was a science student at the university.
The Burundi student was on his way to party in Jalandhar when he was attacked by some persons on April 22 this year. He was stoned, severely thrashed and left on the roadside.
According to police, nine persons were involved in the incident, including the son of a senior police officer. Eight of them have been arrested while one Jaskaran Singh Jassa has managed to flee to Australia.
