Maximum temperatures in Punjab and Haryana today crossed the 40-degree mark at most places after a few days of relief provided by rains.
Chandigarh experienced a hot day recording a high of 40.1 degrees Celsius, one notch above normal limits, the MeT Department said.
In Haryana, Hisar recorded a high of 41.8 degrees Celius while Ambala's maximum settled at 41.1 degrees Celsius, up two notches against normal.

Karnal registered a maximum temperature of 39.6 degrees Celsius.
In Punjab, Ludhiana braved a hot day at 41.8 degrees Celsius, up two notches.
Amritsar and Patiala recorded identical above normal maximum temperature of 40.8 degrees Celius each.
The weather is likely to be dry in Haryana and Punjab over the next two days, according to the MeT forecast.
