Following a row which had cast a shadow over their recent nomination, 10 aldermen today took the oath of office to join the East Delhi Municipal Corporation, about a month after they were named to the post.
The EDMC Mayor administered the oath of office to Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) office secretary Pramod Kumar along with Kailash Jain, Parvez Choudhary, Iqbal Ahmed, Surendra Singh Panchal, Narendra Jain, Asha Balodhi, Vinod Choudhary, Neeraj Sharma and Santosh Sarin.
According to a DPCC statement, apart from the Mayor, Ram Narayan Dubey, the Leader of the Opposition in the House, Varyam Kaur, leader of MCD and all its top officials were present during the ceremony.

The mayors of the three municipal corporations had last month refused to administer the oath of office to aldermen appointed by the Congress-led Delhi government alleging that the appointments had been done keeping in mind political considerations.
