Director duo Shiboprosad Mukhopadhyay and Nandita Roy's blockbuster 'Posto', which fetched two national awards, will be shown in Sweden in September after getting overwhelming response from Bengali communities in the US and Netherlands.

"We will be screening Posto on September 3 in Sweden and full house is already guaranteed for the single show," a spokesperson from Windows Production House told PTI here.

The Sweden show is preceded by a screening on July 15 in Netherlands which witnessed a full house with over 400 people in attendance, almost the entire Bengali expatriates there, she said.

There were also houseful shows of the film in San Francisco and Los Angeles in recent days after the film's India release in May, she said.

"We are also getting request from Bengalis living in Dubai and Japan with request for taking the film to their countries and we think it will also be done shortly," she said.

Shiboprosad Mukhopadhyay, one of the two directors of the film, said, "During the release of 'Praktan' (their earlier film), we had got very good responses from US and Canada and this is how it began."

"'Praktan' was released in the US, the very next day it was released in Kolkata. The show abroad also witnessed houseful audiences and the film was subsequently released in 9 cities in the US and Canada," Shiboprosad said.

"All such shows are pre-booked and self-initiated by the Bengali communities in respective countries," he said.

"This would also check the trend of audiences seeing pirated content of the film," he said.

'Posto', which was released on May 12 last in India, had also ran for four weeks in Bengaluru, Mumbai and Delhi among other Indian cities.

The film starred Jisshu Sengupta, Mimi Chakraborty, Soumitra Chattopadhyay and others including a child actor.
