Describing it as the British High Commissioner's "goodwill visit", Modhwadia told reporters that they held talks on strengthening ties between Gujarat and Britain.

Modhwadia said he requested Bevan to establish an office of the British High Commission in Gujarat, which will help in fostering cultural ties.

Stating that Britain and Gujarat always shared a good relationship, the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) chief said he raised the issue of Gujarati students in the United Kingdom, "who were not allowed to work there after completing their studies."

"Earlier, students were allowed to work following completion of their students. However, of late, there are a lot of regulations, which is creating a lot of problems for Gujarati students in the United Kingdom," the Congress leader said.

Replying to a question on whether there was any discussion on the 2002 communal riots, he said since it was an internal issue of Gujarat, there was no talk on it.
