As rains lashed Mumbai, creative juices of the denizens of social media world also began to flow, with memes and messages flooding WhatsApp and other platforms.
"Ab Mumbai Mein Lo Venice Ka Mazaa (Now enjoy the charm of Venice in Mumbai)," went a meme, accompanied by a morphed photograph of a gondola wading through a flooded suburban train station in the megapolis.
"Available for hire in Mumbai," said another meme, showing a boat in shallow waters bearing the logo of a popular app-based cab-sharing service.
Among the more interesting ones is a meme showing the image of Amitabh Bachchan and Zeenat Aman in a gondola in Venice, from the 1979 film "The Great Gambler".
"Bhaiya, Malad Lena (Brother, take us to Malad)," it said, referring to a northern suburb of Mumbai which was among the several areas in the city which witnessed heavy rain.
"Those who have mentioned swimming as hobby in their bio-data should report for duty at their offices," said another WhatsApp message doing the rounds.
