With its police facing criticism over insensitive handling of cases, the Uttar Pradesh government today sought to repair the damage by asking its policemen to "improve their behaviour".
"Besides directing police officers to improve behaviour of their subordinates, they have been asked to sensitise policemen on crime against women by holding workshops or other means," DGP D R Nagar said.
Nagar was speaking during a meeting of state's administrative top brass in the capital today.

The incident had revoked sharp criticism from various quarters, with the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) pulling up the district police for its mishandling.
In the meeting, which was also attended by Principal Secretary (Home) R M Srivastava, reports were sought from IGs, DIGs and district police chiefs on matters like action taken against the criminals, community policing and PCR functioning, officials said.
Emphasis was laid on imparting knowledge about various rules and regulations to policemen posted at station level, in order to improve their functioning.
