BJP today welcomed the Supreme Court decision for a CBI probe into Vyapam scam and deaths allegedly linked with the case, claiming it was always for it, and said Congress should now stop doing politics over the issue.
The ruling party hit back at Congress for its criticism of the state government over its "delay" in calling for a CBI probe, saying it amounted to commenting on the functioning of the state High Court which had so far been monitoring the investigation into the scam.

It noted that the apex court had "appreciated" the Madhya Pradesh government's request for a CBI investigation.
"The learned Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi clearly enunciated before the Supreme Court the state government's stand that it desires a CBI probe. It must be pointed out that the government had already approached the High Court with a similar request. The apex court has accepted it and also appreciated the AG's stand," BJP spokesperson Nalin Kohli told PTI.
Whether the CBI probe will be monitored by the Supreme Court should be left to the court's wisdom, he said.
"BJP wanted a CBI probe. BJP approached the court and the court has accepted it. We welcome it," he said.
With Congress targeting Shivraj Singh Chouhan government for delay in seeking a CBI probe, Kohli said, "Those who are questioning the timing and the alleged delay must not forget that they are implying a comment on the functioning of the High Court which was monitoring the probe being carried out by a SIT."
Congress, he said, should also not forget that an earlier petition in the apex court demanding a CBI probe had not been accepted.
Another BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said Congress should not do any more politics on the issue after the SC's decision.
"Let the CBI probe take place and Congress should not do politics on it any more. Chouhan had sought a CBI probe and the Centre also stated that there should be a CBI probe.
"We welcome the Supreme Court's decision and the truth will come out. Congress should keep quiet and let the CBI probe take place," Hussain said.
