After short respite, piercing chill back in Haryana, Punjab

After temporary respite from the cold conditions, the piercing chill was back at most places in Punjab and Haryana on Monday, with Pathankot recording the lowest temperature in the two states at 2.3 degree Celsius.

The meteorological department (MeT) officials said while Adampur reeled at 2.6 degree Celsius, Amritsar and Halwara recorded minimum temperatures of 3 degree Celsius and 3.1 degrees Celsius respectively.

Ludhiana braved the chill at 5.5 degree Celsius, Patiala at 5.6 degree Celsius, Bathinda at 4.8 degree Celsius and Faridkot at 4 degree Celsius, the MeT officials said.

Chandigarh recorded a low of 5.6 degree Celsius, they said.

In Haryana, Hisar was the coldest place recording a minimum temperature of 4.9 degree Celsius.

 

The minimum temperature for both Karnal and Narnaul was 5 degree Celsius while Sirsa recorded a below normal temperature of 5.3 degree Celsius, MeT officials said.

In Ambala, the minimum was recorded at 6.3 degree Celsius, they said.

Fog reduced visibility at Hisar, Karnal and Ludhiana this morning, the MeT officials said.

The minimum temperatures had settled above normal limits at most places in the two states on Sunday.
