DMK working president M K Stalin's extensive brainstorming sessions over the past two months with cadres saw DMK today easing out party functionaries in seven southern districts and appointing new office-bearers.
The office-bearers appointed were in Madurai, Theni, Sivaganga, Ramanthapuram, Tiruvelveli, Tuticorin and Kanyakumari districts.
They were from the level of area party incharge to district party overseers for Theni and Ramanathapuram districts.
In sync with a party move to bring in more cohesion during day to day party work and field tasks during polls, the Assembly segments of north, south, central, and west in the temple town of Madurai was brought under the ambit of a single party unit (Madurai Managar district).
Following last year's shock debacle for DMK in the December 2017 RK Nagar bypoll (in which the party candidate lost his deposit), the principal opposition party announced in January this year a series of interactive meetings with party functionaries, which stretched for two months.
At the district-wise meetings, Stalin assured the cadres, right from the lowest rung of village panchayat level secretaries to discrict level office bearers, that their grievances would be redressed and appropriate action would be initiated to take the party forward.
