A senior IMD scientist today withdrew her complaint in which she had accused her cook of concealing her caste and posing as a "Brahmin" woman, two days after the matter drew flak from activists and social outfits.

Medha Khole had on Thursday filed the complaint against Nirmala Yadav (60) alleging that she lied about her caste and marital status to get the job.

Khole, a Brahmin, had claimed her sentiments had been hurt as she wanted someone of her caste to cook for religious and other occasions at her house.

Two days ago, Khole found out that her cook was not a Brahmin and approached the police with a complaint of cheating.

The complaint drew severe criticism from various quarters and became a talking point on social media.

A senior police officer, however, today said Khole had submitted an application to withdraw the case against Yadav.

"Khole said it was a personal matter and she never thought it will trigger a controversy," he said.

The scientist in her application said she did not intend to hurt anybody's feelings.

The officer said that as per the procedure, the police will approach court and file an application seeking to withdraw the case, he said.
