A special NDPS court today granted immunity from prosecution to actor couple Shilpa and Apoorva Agnihotri who are accused in a 2012 Juhu rave party case.

Special Judge I M Bohari also granted immunity from prosecution to another accused Gautam Chaterjee.

The actor couple and Chaterjee had filed separate applications on August 8 seeking immunity from prosecution under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

The Act provides that a person charged with possession of a narcotic drug can avoid prosecution if he or she is willing to de-addiction treatment at a government-recognised hospital.

Last May, police had raided a party at a hotel in suburban Juhu, where drugs were allegedly being consumed, and rounded up 86 people.

The chargesheet filed in the case earlier this year named Vishay Handa, the director of the hotel, DJs Deepesh Sharma and Rakesh Sharma, Apoorva and Shilpa Agnihotri and IPL cricketers Rahul Sharma and Wayne Parnell among others.

Apoorva is known for his role in television show 'Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin' and his wife Shilpa for her role in soap 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi'.
