Social activist Swami Agnivesh today condemned the Naxal attack on security forces in Chhattisgarh's tribal belt of Bastar killing three CRPF commandos and said it was an attack on democracy.

"It is condemnable. Security people were not on any combing operation but were only helping the election staff. It is an attack on democracy," he said.

He added that some sections of Maoists are on one hand saying that they are ready for talks but they continue to engage in violence which is a contradiction.

Agnivesh during his poll campaign in favour of AAP in the naxal-hit areas of Bastar in Chhattisgarh had fervently appealed to the CPI (Maoist) to observe truce till the conclusion of Parliamentary elections.

"I had also called for cessation of all combing operations by the security forces during the period of elections," he said earlier last week.

Over 100 Naxals today ambushed a team of security forces in Chhattisgarh's tribal belt of Bastar on the eve of Lok Sabha polls, killing three commandos of CRPF and injuring five others including two officers in twin attacks.
