Agreement signed for construction of Agra-Lucknow Expressway

The Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) today signed an agreement with private developers for construction of Agra-Lucknow Expressway.

On behalf of the state government, the agreement was signed by UPEIDA Chief Executive Officer Navneet Sehgal in the presence of Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan.

Sehgal said that provisions of six-lane divided carriage way, inter-changes for main roads, underpasses, service road and green belt has been made in the expressway.

He said it will the biggest expressway in the country to be developed by the state government from its own resources on EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) model.

Sehgal said the 302.22-km project would cover Agra, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etawah, Auraiya, Kannauj, Kanpur, Unnao, Hardoi and Lucknow districts.
 

He said around 3,100 hectares of land would be required for the project, of which 2,300 hectares have been acquired.

The CEO said once the project is completed, travel time between Agra and Lucknow would be reduced to around four hours.

The expressway would be constructed in five segments and each part will be developed by different developer.
