Agriculture officer held for accepting Rs 80,000 bribe

An agriculture officer was arrested today for allegedly accepting bribe of Rs 80,000 from a complainant for granting him official favour, ACB said.

Rajendra Premraj Rathi (57), the Incharge taluka Agriculture Officer posted at Chamorshi, was apprehended while he was accepting the amount from the complainant, at his Camp Area residence here.

The Chandrapur unit of ACB said the complainant's payment for renting out his tractor to the agriculture department for carrying out work under Watershed Development Programme was due.

According to ACB, the department owed the complainant Rs 2,79,409 towards his services and Rathi sought the illegal gratification for clearing this due.
 

Rathi was booked under various sections of the Anti-Corruption Act.
