Uttar Pradesh minister Surya Pratap today said the agriculture sector made slow progress under the previous Samajwadi Party government.
He said the previous government did not complete the testing of 18 lakh soil samples for possible cultivation.
The Yogi Adityanath dispensation inherited the backlog, he said.

Pratap said the Uttar Pradesh government has started setting up online agricultural markets for farmers to sell their produce.
"An online platform each is being set up for 34 agricultural markets ... 100 such e-Mandis will be created shortly," he said.
These online markets will "liberate" farmers from the clutches of middle-men and help them get competitive prices for their commodities, he said.
With this, farmers will also be able to sell their yields in markets elsewhere, the minister said.
