Ahead of AAP govt's 2nd anniv Gopal Rai presents report card

Delhi minister Gopal Rai today presented a report card of the accomplishments of his four departments in the last two years and claimed around 90 per cent of the targets set were achieved.

The Aam Aadmi Party will complete its two years in office on February 14. On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, along with his ministerial colleagues, will present a comprehensive report card about the government's achievements.

Rai, who hold the portfolios of labour, irrigation and flood, development, and general administration department, however, expressed displeasure over the Centre's "delay" in giving its nod to various proposed legislations, including Minimum Wages Bill and Working Journalists Bill.
 

"The labour department has issued a helpline 155214 which has been extremely helpful for labourers. Due to setting up of fast track courts, the government has been able to provide time-bound rulings to labourers," the minister said.

"It is unfortunate that the Centre has not cleared several bills. The minimum wages bill, which is expected to be cleared by the end of this month, will ensure that labourers get proper wages for their work," Rai told reporters here.

Out of 18 schemes for the welfare of construction workers, seven have been implemented by the Labour Department. To curb corruption, the government has also introduced online registration of industries, he said.

The minister also said the General Administration Department has decided to make online all records of freedom fighters and martyrs by setting up a dedicate website for them.

"Apart from this, we have also plans to convert all wholesale mandis (markets) into e-mandis in order to cater to traders and curb corruption," Rai said.

He said for the first time, in the upcoming budget, the government will provide special provision to construct chhath ghats in the city.

"Delhi government's Rural Development Board is working on various projects worth Rs 326 crore for development works in Delhi's villages. Delhi is the first in the country to give compensation of Rs 90.4 crore to farmers who suffered crop loss," Rai said.
