Students of an air hostess and hospitality institute here today ransacked the facility and manhandled faulty and staff members alleging exploitation by academy authorities.

Students of Air Hostess and Hospitality Academy (AHHA), mostly women, damaged the institutes's office and attacked its principal before lodging a complaint at the Kharvela Nagar police station here.

"We have received an FIR and a counter FIR in connection with the AHHA episode. We are examining the charges after which cases will be registered," said a police officer.

While the students alleged they have been cheated by the institute and exploited, AHHA authorities denied it.

"We were told the institute will ensure 100 per cent placement. But, we have not been given appropriate jobs in airlines. Some of our students were given jobs in hotels," pointed out an angry student.

"The girl students were told to make compromise in certain cases. Some girls were suggested to keep physical relation with clients. When we refused, they told us there was no alternative," a girl student, who was involved in ransacking of the institute, told reporters.

AHHA director Col Dilip Routray denied the allegations and claimed the students were being given placements.

"So far the institute has trained 1,000. All of them are doing fine. Only a dozen of them created violence," he said.
