Union Minister S S Ahluwalia today met the man behind 'Bike Ambulance' Karimul Haque, who received Padma Shri this year for his unique way of doing social service.
The Union Minister of State for Agriculture was handed over a charter of demands by Haque to improve the health services in Mal area in the district.
Ahluwalia said he would present it to the Centre and do his best for its implementation. He also informed Haque that he had come to the place at the instruction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Haque has been running a free ambulance service for the past twenty years for local residents to ensure that no one ever died due to lack of timely medical service. He had started the service after he lost his mother due to unavailability of an ambulance.
